After two months of eager anticipation from students and employees, the newly renovated on-campus Chick-fil-A is expected to relaunch this Friday.
According to Engagement and Communication Specialist April Burke, “The renovations primarily focused on updating the kitchen area to meet Chick-fil-A’s corporate standards, which require updates every 7 years for licensed establishments. These updates are necessary to maintain compliance and ensure operational efficiency.”
While students may welcome the news of improved service, some employees have expressed frustration with the process. Lydia Hutter, a front-of-house employee, shared her experience of being out of work since renovations began. “Our meal plans have not been activated even though we are campus employees,” Hutter said. “We’re the only ones still not working, just signing our names on a sheet in the dining hall.”
According to Hutter, the communication from management has been inconsistent, leaving many employees in the dark about the timeline for renovations and their return to work.
Despite these setbacks, Chick-fil-A management has stated that the renovations aim to improve efficiency during peak hours. While there are no changes to the menu or expansions to the seating area, the upgrades focus on streamlining service at the counter to handle the high volume of students during rush periods.
Students and employees can expect the restaurant to reopen this Friday, Jan. 31.
