As spring approaches, the botanical garden is in full effect. The botanical garden offers 11 acres of land, featuring seasonal blooms, themed gardens, and native plants. Many people come out year round to view the natural essence.
The garden is home to woodland trails, vibrant florals, and more. It is also cost-free for all Georgia Southern students and locals.
“It’s the first week of February here at the Botanic Garden at Georgia Southern. We’ve had some warm weather, so there’s a lot happening here in early spring,” said employee Becki Akins. “Especially with the trees and shrubs, like this Camilla that’s behind me. The trees and shrubs are some of the first plants to bloom in the spring. We also have a lot of bulbs emerging, like crocuses and other flowers that come up in the spring. So there’s a lot of changes happening. We already have some bees flying around, and a lot of plants and bloom.”
They are currently hiring for all Georgia Southern students, and also looking for volunteer work.
Whether your taking part in their educational programs, going on a peaceful walk, or attending community events, the botanical garden is a great way to expand your personal knowledge on this green oasis.
