The Beta Beta Beta Biological Honors Society is hosting a fiesta-themed silent auction and raffle in the Russell Union today to raise money for Hearts and Hands Clinic.

According to the Hearts and Hands Clinic’s website, their mission is to “promote healthy living and health education by providing free primary health services for citizens of Bulloch County.”

60 percent of the proceeds from the auction will go to Hearts and Hands, and 40 percent will go to Tri Beta’s efforts in undergraduate biology research.

Bidding is now open until 8 p.m. A taco bar will be provided by El Jalapeño from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.

A raffle for a 50″ HD Smart TV will also take place at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased for $2 each or 12 tickets for $20 until 6:30 p.m. 100 percent of the raffle proceeds will go the Hearts and Hands Clinic.

There are over $7,000 worth of items at the auction which were donated by local and regional businesses.

“We’ve been going around to businesses since June to get all of these donations,” Sarah Rogers, vice president of recruitment and marketing director for Tri Beta National Biological Honors Society, said.

Items include: self care baskets, student parking pass, food items, a tattoo credit, jewelry, art and many more.
