The Georgia Southern University Day Six is scheduled for tonight at the Allen E. Paulson stadium.

The gates will open at 6:30 p.m. with the event starting shortly after at 8 p.m. and is free to GS students that present their Eagle ID.

Day Six will include appearances by President Jamie Herbert, GS cheerleaders, Gus and free t-shirts for students.

“The purpose of Day One is to teach freshmen and transfer students about Georgia Southern University traditions,” said Dan Adams, director of athletic marketing.

This popular GS tradition started back in 2011 and ever since then it’s been one of the ways to kick off the school year.

The event original date was set for August 15 at 8 p.m. to 9 p.m., but had to be rescheduled due to inclement weather.

In the past years the number of students that come out are between one thousand to two thousand students, according to Adams.

Due to the rescheduling of Day One the number of students attending to this year’s event is unknown.

“We’re hoping the entire freshman class will attend,” Adams said.

With this event happing every year it’s a sure way to get students in the right mindset for school spirit.
