New senior leadership team for consolidated university announced

On May 5, 2017, President Jaimie Hebert appointed seven members to the senior leadership team for the new, consolidated Georgia Southern University.

Trip Addison, who joined the GS administration in 2015, will serve as Vice President for University Advancement and External Affairs. Georj Lewis, Armstrong State University’s (ASU) current Vice President of Student Affairs, will continue serving in his position.

Teresa Thompson and Rob Whitaker will continue to hold their current positions as well, as Vice President for Enrollment Management and Vice President for Finance and Operations respectively.

According to a press release, a national search for Provost and Academic Affairs for GS will be conducted soon. Until those positions are filled, Robert Smith will continue to serve as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at ASU and Diana Cone will become the Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at GS as the consolidation process continues.

Rounding out the list of appointments is Bill Kelso, who has been appointed Associate Vice President for University Advancement.

All of these appointments are contingent on the Board of Regents’ approval. If approved, these appointments will take effect on Jan. 1, 2018.
