Georgia Southern is encouraging football, soccer and volleyball fans to donate during home games to aid those affected by the Louisiana floods.

The floods directly impacted one of our own Eagles. Taylor Thompson, a senior on the women’s Golf team, has family in Louisiana that needed to evacuate.“It was hard to believe that my grandparent’s house was gone… my parents and friends would send me pictures and tell me it looks like a war zone,” Thompson said.

The first donations were collected at the last football home game against UL Monroe. GS raised over $2000 towards flood relief. “The response was significant… it was crazy seeing how many people had a personal connection to it [the floods],” Thompson said.

The next home game that donations will be collected at is Friday, Sept. 30 at the Women’s Volleyball game at the Hanner Field Complex. Donations will be taken until Nov. 7.

Visit the GS Athletics website for additional dates and opportunities to donate towards the Louisiana Flood Relief.
