Georgia Southern athletes are setting a new standard in the academic classrooms. 165 student-athletes were named as Sun Belt Academic All-Americans for the 2015-2016 year. This includes the Commissioner’s List and Academic Honor Roll.

The Commissioner’s List includes student-athletes who maintained a 3.5 GPA throughout the year, and the Academic Honor Roll includes student-athletes with a 3.0-3.49 GPA throughout the year.

Their 3.01 group GPA marked history for the group GPA in the school’s history. They only aim to improve in the future.

The women’s tennis team was awarded the Sun Belt’s top GPA honor for the second year in a row with a cumulative GPA of 3.82. Women’s basketball was also awarded for having the highest Sun Belt GPA with a cumulative average of 3.23.

The Eagles’ success will raise the bar for GS athletics and what they stand for. They are setting a new standard that will heighten the name of Eagle nation.
