House Bill 859 will officially become state law once Gov. Nathan Deal signs it.

On Friday, the Georgia Senate passed the Campus Carry bill after an emotional two-hour floor debate, according to the AJC.

The bill will allow anyone 21 and older with a gun permit to carry a concealed handgun on public college campuses excluding athletic facilities, student housing and fraternity and sorority houses.

Universities and colleges all over the state have raised concerns about the bill and the maturity and safety of student’s on-campus, according to the AJC.
