The Georgia Southern Eagles played host to the South Alabama Jaguars in the first home game of 2016. The Jaguars defeated the Eagles 64-58. The Eagles fell to 0-3 in the Sun Belt and 4-9 overall.
It was an unusually poor shooting night for the Eagles, who shot just 27% from the field. The team was 0-14 from behind the arc before hitting their first three-point shot with 12:39 left in the game. After trailing by as many as 16 points in the second half, the Eagles battled back and tied the game at 49-49 on a Tookie Brown layup.
The Jaguars outscored the Eagles 15-9 after the Eagles tied the game to seal the win. It’s the Jaguars sixth win of the season.
Ike Smith led the Eagles in scoring with 20 points in the game. He added six rebounds to his night. Ken Williams led the Jaguars with 22 points on 6-15 shooting.
The Eagles will play again on Saturday afternoon at home against the Troy Trojans. Tip off is at 5pm.
