Willie Fritz, staff and Georgia Southern football players will wear gold ribbons on their shirts before their game on October 17th to bring awareness to a sad problem. The ribbons will help show homecoming participants Georgia Southern’s support in bringing awareness to childhood cancer. 

One football player knows childhood cancer all too well. According to gseagles.com Andre Sims, a transfer student and offense and special teams member, has a younger brother who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at the age of five. He received a liver transplant and is now in remission. Andre was thankful for the diagnosis but admits it has been hard on his family. 

Georgia Southern football plans to continue to show support for this cause throughout the rest of their season starting with the homecoming game against New Mexico State.
