First Lady for Nathan Deal coming to GSU

The book signing will be hosted on October 7, at Georgia Southern University’s Alumni Center, from 12:30pm to 2pm. Memories of the Mansion: The Story of Georgia’s Governor’s Mansion, also features author’s, Jennifer W. Dickey, Ph.D., coordinator of public history and associate professor of history at Kennesaw State University and Catherine M. Lewis, Ph.D., assistant vice president of Museums, Archives and Rare Books and a professor of history at Kennesaw State University.

The book features extensive illustrations of the Georgia Governor’s Mansion’s history dated back to 1968. A goal of publishing this book is to ensure the preservation of the historic resource of the mansion so that it may continue to serve the state and its people. This book is published through the University Georgia Press, and in cooperation with Kennesaw State University and University of Georgia Libraries.

Another special guest that will be attending the lecture and signing is, Betty Foy Sanders, former first lady of Georgia. Mrs. Sanders and her late husband, former Governor Carl Sanders, helped design the Georgia Governor’s Mansion. Georgia Southern University named the University’s Art Department building after the former first lady.
