Fifth straight loss for the Lady Eagles

The Georgia Southern Lady Eagles fell to the Sun Belt leading UALR Trojans 44-58 this afternoon.  It was the Eagles fifth consecutive loss.

The Eagles got off to a hot start and led 8-4 early in the game. They continued to keep the pace throughout the first half, and only trailed 26-23 at the half. But, the conference leading Trojans jumped ahead early in the second half and never trailed again.

Georgia Southern was once again led in scoring by Anna Claire Knight, who had 13 points, six rebounds and a steal. Angel McGowan scored 12 points to go along with four rebounds and one steal.

The Eagles shot just 32 percent from the field and went 1-15 from behind the arc.

Taylor Gault was a force all game, leading the Trojans with 20 points on 7-12 shooting, and went 2-3 from behind the arc. She also had six rebounds and two blocks. Shanity James also put up impressive numbers, posting a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

The Eagles home stand will continue when they host rival Georgia State on Thursday. Tip off is at 5pm.
