Lady Eagles taken down by ULM

The Georgia Southern Lady Eagles lost a heartbreaker in overtime to UL Monroe 66-72.

The Eagles jumped out in front behind some strong scoring from Patrice Butler and kept the lead for most of the game. But, they allowed UL Monroe to tie it up at 66-66 to send the game into overtime. The Eagles were held scoreless in the five-minute frame and let UL take the win.

Patrice Butler led the Eagles offensively with 23 points on nine field goals. Angel McGowan added 11 points and two steals, and Anna Claire Knight hit two three pointers on her way to 12 points.

The Eagles shot just 35 percent from the field and only 33 percent from the three point line.

UL Monroe was led by Sharnice Brooks who had 28 points and four blocks against the Eagles.

The Lady Eagles will return home to face Appalachian State in the first of a five game home stand. Tip off is at 5 p.m.
