Weekend of Feb.27: What you missed in Georgia Southern Athletics

Here’s what you missed this weekend in Georgia Southern Athletics…

Men’s Basketball 

The men’s basketball team won 79-70 against rival Georgia State on Saturday in Atlanta. This ended a 28-year winless streak in Panther territory. 

What’s next?

The team will play their last regular season game on Tuesday at home against Arkansas State.

Women’s Basketball 

The women’s basketball team played Texas State on Thursday, where they lost 68-72 on the road. On Saturday, they continued their Texas road against UT Arlington. They suffered one of their largest losses of the season, dropping 101-73. 

What’s next?

The team will travel to play Georgia State on Tuesday to close out their regular season.

Baseball 

The baseball team played a three-game series this weekend against Radford. The first game on Friday ended in an 8-0 win for Eagles. The next day, dropped the game, 4-2. In the final game of the series, GS earned a 19-2 win.

What’s next?

The baseball team will travel to Athens and play No.4 UGA on Tuesday.

Softball 

The softball team competed in the Auburn Invitational over the weekend. The first game against Binghamton was an 8-2 win and the second game was a 5-4 loss against Auburn. On Saturday, the team played another two games. The first against Minnesota which was a 14-3 loss and the second against Binghamton resulted in a 2-1 loss. On Sunday, the team was held scoreless by Auburn and fell by six runs.

What’s next? 

The team will begin conference play on Friday against ULM for a three-game series at home.

Men’s Tennis 

The men’s tennis team played South Florida on Thursday and lost 7-0 despite engaging in a multitude of decisive third sets. 

What’s next?

The men’s tennis team will travel to play Winthrop on Sunday.

Women’s Tennis

The women’s tennis team took on North Florida on Friday where they lost, 7-0. The team bounced back on Sunday against Mercer, where they walked away with a 4-3 victory.

What’s next?

The team will play College of Charleston at home on Saturday.
