Coming into the game this afternoon bowl hopes were on the line for both Georgia Southern and Navy. After one of the worst showings this season, the Eagles fell to the Midshipmen 52-19.

The Eagles started with the ball and grinded down the field with sophomore running back Matt Brieda and redshirt freshman L.A. Ramsby on a seven minute, 75-yard drive for the first score of the day. Navy answered back with a long drive on the back of their rushing quarterback Keegan Reynolds who dove in for a one yard touchdown to tie the game.  The Georgia Southern rushing attack was stalled on a three and out their next possession.

Sophomore quarterback Favian Upshaw was at the helm on the next Eagle drive as they were forced to punt again. Navy took the next drive down the field with Reynolds running and throwing his way into the endzone for their second touchdown on the day, 14-7 Navy.

Ellison nailed a 12 yard pass on third and 11 to start the next drive. Ramsby dove forward for a first down on fourth and three but lost control of the ball and Navy was able to fall on top of it. The Eagle defense was able to put up a stand and hold the Midshipmen to a field goal. Ellison helped the Eagles work the ball downfield but they were forced to punt again at midfield before the end of the half.

Navy started the second half strong with a long touchdown drive to put themselves up, 24-7. Brieda woke up in second half and started with a 13 yard rush, followed by a 37 yard run to put the Eagles in the redzone. After a holding penalty and a missed field goal the Eagles were forced to give up the ball again.

Reynolds and the Midshipmen again walked their way down the field and after a one yard lunge scored his fourth touchdown of the day, 31-7 Navy. Once the offense got the ball back they knew it was now or never. The Eagles worked the ball downfield and led to a 36 yard touchdown run by Brieda, a missed extra point made it 31-13.

The fourth quarter started with Ellison going deep and getting intercepted at midfield. Reynolds took advantage of the field position and scampered for a long touchdown run to extend their lead. Upshaw checked back into the game and broke off some big runs but threw an interception near the redzone and watched it get returned 68 yards before making the touchdown saving tackle. Reynolds went around the outside and scored his fourth touchdown on the ground, 45-13 Navy.

Brieda came in again to try and bail out the Eagles and ran 88 yards for a touchdown on the first play of the drive, a failed two-point conversion made it 45-19. After a failed onside kick Reynolds broke away on the first play of their drive for a 39 yard touchdown run. Neither team would get in the endzone again at the Midshipmen took the win 52-19.
