Even the most enthusiastic brides-to-be find themselves bogged down by the sheer enormity of planning their big day. Not to worry, though. At least one group of clever vendors is hoping to shake up the bridal expo scene with a night of dinner, dancing, and… murder?

For only $20, Statesboro couples can attend a unique event to get to see some local wedding options while attempting to solve a murder for great prizes. 

A large group of bridal vendors are all coming together under the direction of Brandon Muddy to create a murder mystery wedding reception cleverly called “Till Death Do Us Part.” Couples can come and enjoy a fun event while also getting to meet some of the local vendors.

“The event will allow the couples to meet them in a more relaxed setting while also allowing the vendors to see who the brides really are,” Christina Babb, the owner of Simply Sweet Bakery, said. She, along with Jeff Wells of Shockwave Entertainment, are leading the efforts of local businesses involved in the event.

Mrs. Babb also shared some details on the plans for the event. The first hour will be mostly for mingling with the vendors and other guests while the second hour will consist of the murder mystery dinner.

“Dinner is an actual wedding reception,” she said. “The DJ will actually play, there will be a real wedding cake, and the other vendors will actually be doing what they would do at the wedding.”

She says the venue will even be fully decorated by Tray Anderson from Fleurish of Statesboro. Guests will attempt to solve the mystery based on the performances of Georgia Southern Students and Averitt Stars who will portray the characters, then each guest will write his or her guess onto a sheet of paper and anyone who gets right will be entered into the grand prize drawing that will take place at the end of the evening.

The last hour of the event will be entirely dedicated to the many prize drawings that will be done. Each vendor will be offering up either discounted or complimentary wedding-related packages as prizes for this final portion of the night. The grand prize winner will actually get an entire wedding package at a discounted price.

The event will take place on Sept. 18 at the Belle House from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets are available from any vendor participating in the event or can be purchased through the event’s Facebook page. The vendors will also be competing to see who can sell the most tickets, though.
