STATESBORO — Georgia Southern’s Center for Sustainability planted 25 trees around campus last week in honor of Arbor Day.

CFS members and campus volunteers planted the containerized trees on Sweetheart Circle and Southern Drive, while also planting 650 seedlings around campus, according to a press release.

For the eighth year in a row, CFS and the Division of Facilities Services has teamed up for this project as a way to bring the GS community together, while also making an effort to better the environment around campus, according to the press release. Each year, trees are planted in different areas around campus.

Although Arbor Day is traditionally celebrated in April, Georgia begins the festivities two months early due to the subtropical climate being better for plant life.
