Georgia Southern set several enrollment records for fall 2023 on the Statesboro and Armstrong campuses, as well as online courses.
According to reports from the University System of Georgia, nearly 1,000 more students enrolled this semester compared with fall 2022.
Records set this semester include a higher number of dual-enrolled students, graduate students, master’s degree students, doctoral students and out-of-state students.
There was a lull in enrollment records following the fall 2020 semester for dual-enrolled, doctoral and out-of-state students, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“This enrollment growth is not only a testament to the strategic efforts and hard work of our dedicated faculty and staff but also a reflection of Georgia Southern’s commitment to student success and talent development that serves the growing needs of our region,” said Georgia Southern President Kyle Marrero in a university press release.
The Armstrong campus saw a 2.7% increase in enrollment, largely due to a surge of new academic programs and more evening courses to accommodate those who work during typical class times.
The university also announced that graduate programs will be available at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield to support the Armstrong community’s needs.
“Our growth across various programs, especially in dual enrollment, graduate studies, and out-of-state recruitment, underscores our dedication to offering diverse and dynamic learning experiences,” said Alejandra C. Sosa Pieroni, executive vice president of the Division of Enrollment, Marketing and Student Success. “We’re not just enrolling students; we’re nurturing future leaders and contributing significantly to the educational landscape of Georgia and beyond.”
