The George-Anne Media Group

The George-Anne Media Group isn’t your parents’ student newspaper. Maybe it’s the place for you.

Every day when classes are in session, thousands of students (and faculty and staff) open our email newsletters. Every year, 400,000 or more our website and social media platforms receive more than 400,000 visits. And every month, we distribute thousands of printed newspapers or magazines on campus.No experience is required. We provide training.

  • Some roles require minimum time commitments. Some do not. We can work with your schedule.
  • Scholarship positions are awarded to some students who can make greater time commitments.
  • Students have the first and last word on all content.

NEWS AND SPORTS REPORTERS

CAMPUS LIFESTYLE REPORTERS

  • Help students find activities and resources to improve their lives.
  • Add some fun to our coverage!
  • Tell us if you want to focus on special topics, such as health/mental health, fashion, identity, arts/culture, music, entertainment, relationships or academic success.

INCLUSIVE EXCELLENCE JOURNALISTS

  • Help expand our outlet devoted to topics of diversity, equity and inclusion by serving in one or more of the roles below.
  • Be a reporter/writer (interview people, cover events, trends, etc.)
  • Capture our diverse community as a photographer or videographer.
  • Appear on camera as a host or reporter.

DESIGNERS AND PHOTOGRAPHERS

TELEVISION JOURNALISTS

  • Join Your Newsroom, our streaming video news outlet, producing an award-winning weekly newscast and daily short videos.
  • Photograph and edit your own reports as a multimedia journalist.
  • Anchor and/or appear as a reporter on the weekly show.
  • Photograph, edit or otherwise support production.

FILMMAKERS

  • Videos produced by George-Anne Films can be serious, but they often are fun or quirky. They never are what you would expect. You just have to see for yourself at thegeorgeanne.com. On the menu bar, click “G-A Films.”

FASHION FASCINATION

  • You can get involved in fashion coverage with many of our outlets. But if you want your primary role to be in fashion coverage, fill out this interest form.
  • Wanted: Writers, photographers, videographers, designers.

STUDENT STORYTELLERS

  • Share your personal experience.
  • Connect your experience to larger issues if desired.
  • Use writing, poetry, photography, video, art, cartooning or any platform.
