Georgia Southern Women’s Basketball has been playing with a lot of energy this year, and on a team with a lot of roles, senior guard Terren Ward continues to play hers as a leader.
Ward currently averages 22 points a game ranking her 10th in NCAA Division 1 Women’s basketball and she agrees her team is a big part of her accomplishments.
“My team is behind me 100 percent through thick and thin,” Ward said. “They trust me to make smart game decisions and to lead. Without them, my numbers wouldn’t be where they are today. Whether it’s from great passes or great encouragement, my team supports me. We all know our roles and my specific role to score. I make sure to get in my spot, comfortable or uncomfortable and make my baskets.”
Ward also said a ball has been in her hand since she was three, starting off playing recreational basketball with her sisters, and after getting buckets for so many years she concentrates mostly on eating healthy and conditioning.
“Playing ball has been in my life rather soccer, softball, or basketball, but basketball ruled them all,” said Ward. “I love everything about the game and the excitement that comes with it.”
