Minority Minds Media, a club of 24 members chartered less than a year ago, hosted its first-ever showcase, drawing inspiration from classic cinema to celebrate emerging talent in the local artistic community.
The theme of the event was dedicated to honoring influential filmmakers and their timeless works. Among the featured projects was “Kith and Kin,” a senior project by Linda Camile Brinson, Vice President of Minority Minds Media, which paid tribute to beloved sitcoms like “Everybody Hates Chris” and “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”
Other standout films included “Shoot My Shot” by Se’Qui Levrett, reminiscent of Spike Lee’s “She’s Gotta Have It,” and “She Knows” by Sqai Johnson, a creative take on “Kill Bill” that won the Fan Favorite Award.
Reflecting on the showcase’s success, Linda Brinson emphasized the club’s dedication to honoring influential filmmakers. “It is a focus on paying homage to the filmmakers that got us here,” Brinson noted, capturing the essence of Minority Minds Media’s commitment to celebrating cinematic heritage while nurturing new voices in the industry.
Minority Minds Media recently won the award for new student organization and continues to grow. It aims to inspire and empower the next generation of minority filmmakers and storytellers.
