In April 2024, the Board of Regents and the University System of Georgia approved tuition and fee increases at a board meeting. Students and families received an email notice from Georgia Southern University Communications and Marketing in late May, regarding these changes.
What is it?
- Undergraduate in-state tuition will increase by 2.5%
- “For Georgia Southern in-state undergraduate students, that is an increase of $73 per 15-hour semester or less than $5 per credit hour. Undergraduate out-of-state tuition will increase by 5%. For Georgia Southern out-of-state undergraduate students, that is an increase of $484 per 15-hour semester or approximately $32 per credit hour,” according to an email sent by Georgia Southern Communications and Marketing.
- Along with the increase, fully online students will now have a mandatory “Online Learning Fee,” which also applies to those taking online courses.
How it affects you:
- These updates will apply to Georgia Southern students Fall 2024 tuition bill
- “Affordability for our students remains at the forefront as we make decisions about how best to support and graduate our students. Georgia Southern has remained steadfast in its commitment to finding better ways to serve students while being more cost-effective and efficient,” the email stated.
- With all these changes, it is important to note that HOPE and Zell Miller scholarships and other grants will still apply.
