Construction on a new private student living complex is underway at what used to be Georgia Southern’s University Plaza, right next to Zaxby’s and only a few minutes walk from campus.
Charme is the project of Rael Development Corp., an investment team based out of Dallas, Texas. Rael has worked closely with the city of Statesboro and Georgia Southern to manage the planning and construction of Charme, with the total valuation of the project being $61 million.
We spoke with GS student, Vanessa Alcala, about leasing prices. Alcala spoke with a Charme employee about pricing to determine if she was interested in leasing there the following year.
According to Alcala, “From what I remember, the one bedroom apartments were around $1,400 a month, and the 4 bedroom apartments were around $600.”
The new complex offers an elevated pool equipped with cabanas, TVs, and outdoor games, a speakeasy-style game room featuring a pool table and cafe, a coffee shop and much more according to their website.
This new student housing will offer 250 units, with 636 beds between them. This will provide more accommodations for students looking for more comfortable living quarters during their time at Georgia Southern. They expect to open its doors to students in fall of 2025.
We reached out to Charme, who has chosen not to comment on exact opening dates or leasing prices at this time. You can stop by Charme’s Leasing Suite on Chandler Road to find more information.
