Hurricane Helene left destruction in Savannah and its surrounding areas in the late night of Thursday into the early morning of Friday. After wreaking havoc across six states, the increasing death toll marks it as the deadliest storm since Hurricane Katrina. Mayor Van Johnson estimated about 120,000 people without power on the 27th in Savannah proper, and those in the county or surrounding areas such as Pooler and Richmond Hill. The Mayor’s daily damage reports remain a valuable resource to tracking restoration efforts regarding Helene’s damage.
