October is breast cancer awareness month and Zeta Tau Alpha had their 38th annual “Pink out the fountain” event to show support to those affected by breast cancer. The downtown Statesboro fountain was turned pink.
“Just Promoting the awareness of breast cancer, of course we are praying for a cure, so we don’t have to hold this event every year but until that happens, we are dedicated to the event and dedicated to raising money for breast cancer,” House Director for Zeta Tau Alpha Beth McAvoy said.
This event serves to remind the community that there is still a fight for a cure for breast cancer. In addition to raising awareness to the condition, this sorority highlights the importance of this event as it impacts them also.
“Zeta Tau Alpha stuck out a lot to me with its philanthropy so I’m so happy to be here and we’re just trying to raise enough money to help the 1 in eight become none in eight,” Zeta Tau Alpha member Megan Blanchard said.
In order to support those who are impacted, Zeta Tau Alpha will be accepting donations for breast cancer research throughout the month of October.
