Bulloch County residents began lining up at election offices to cast their ballots for the November 5th election. Georgia Southern University held early voting in the Russell union rotunda on Tuesday, October 22nd through Thursday October 24th from 8am to 5pm.
Residents needed to bring a form of identification for in person voting. This can be any valid state or federal government-issued photo ID, a Georgia driver’s license even expired, a student ID from the university, a passport, U.S. military photo ID, or any valid tribal photo ID.
Poll pad workers sat at a table to scan people in. Electronic booths were placed in the middle of the floor with booths for people to cast their ballots.
“Early voting really opens up the opportunity to vote with it expanded over three weeks as it is in Georgia. I think a lot more people have the opportunity to vote,” Election Assistant Zachary Pitts said.
Absentee ballots are also an option for those who choose to vote in person. For Georgia, you do not need an excuse to request an absentee ballot. To request an absentee ballot, you must submit an application. You can submit an application online by email, mail, fax, or in person.
“Our vehicle for change is your vote. If you want things to change or improve or whatever you want. You best take that to the polls,” Pitts said.
Absentee Ballot deadlines are October 25th and early voting deadlines for in person ends November 1st. If you do not want to miss the deadline for early voting, stop by your nearest location to place your vote. To find your nearest location you can log on to my voter page or contact your county registrar for more information.
