Statesboro welcomed one of its first vintage stores on Sunday with a great turnout of shoppers. The Archive is a new local downtown vintage store that sells various vintage clothing, sneakers, and hats.
The store was founded by two Georgia Southern graduates, Johnny McFatten and Tyler Brands, who were both interested in starting their own vintage clothing store. McFatten and Brands were also active in Georgia Southern athletics, with Mcfatten playing for the Basketball team from 2019-2023 and Brands playing for the Soccer team in 2020.
The Duo had extensive experience in creating the business. Mcfatten was involved with graphic design, which allowed him to make all the designs for the shop and its marketing. Brands also had previous business experience, with his own online shoe store called The Name Brands in 2021.
“We just knew each other, and we knew that Statesboro needed something like this,” said McFatten. “We never had an authentic sneaker and vintage store before.”
All of their supply for clothing and shoes come from wholesale and leftover clothing. Each clothing item is hand picked by the owners.
The store has a very vintage style. On the right, the walls are covered with vintage sports clothing, and on the left, high-quality shoes are on display. Additionally, the walls have many posters of classic movies from the 90s. The middle of the store has a small table with two vhs tapes of old baseball games and a early 2000s vintage sneaker catalog.
Each piece of clothing comes with a free baseball card which further enhances the vintage aesthetic.
If you are interested in supporting local businesses or want high-quality vintage ware, you can visit the store located in downtown Statesboro at 20 South Main Street, across from Cool Beanz Espresso Bar. For updates and future events, follow their Instagram.
