Happy New Year, Eagles! Even though the year just started, it’s been chaotic, to say the least. Something that we have been dreading may be coming soon: the TikTok ban. While no one knows what will happen, I’m interested to see how it all plays out.
In the last couple of months, on social media, I’ve seen plenty of people talking about the “Ins and Outs” of 2025 and making predictions about what will be trending. I thought it would be fun to share my opinion on what trends we may see!
Social media:
Like most people, I am in denial that TikTok may be banned soon. On the bright side, I feel like there will be another app developed that will blow up, and everyone will be moving over to that if TikTok does go away.
As far as social media trends go, until we get “another TikTok,” it’s looking like Instagram will be the main app for trends.
Fashion:
As we all know, bows and the “coquette” aesthetic were the hot ticket this year for women’s fashion. While I still love the bows, I feel like they will slowly be pushed out, and a new “aesthetic” will make its way in.
I don’t know if it was necessarily a “trend” in 2024, but Camo Print made a slight comeback throughout the year. I feel like that will continue into 2025.
Music:
2024 was an incredible year for music and concerts. Artists like Taylor Swift, Coldplay, Nicki Minaj, Tate McRae, and more had long-lasting, incredibly successful tours and music releases. We also saw the rise of Chappell Roan, which will definitely continue into this year, since she is planning on releasing some new music.
Going forward, I feel like there’s definitely a new pop star on the rise. It’s something that happens every year, and I’m excited to see who will have their big break this year. Without TikTok, it’ll be interesting to see other ways small artists can get the word out there about their music.
I can’t wait to see how this year goes, and at the end of the year, it’ll be nice to look back and compare the trends to this list I compiled. I hope everyone has a great semester and a great year! Be sure to connect with us on Instagram @georgeannereflector.
