GATA Jam, the fairly new country music festival here on campus, is returning for its second year, and students are wondering what to expect from the country music extravaganza.
GATA Jam is a country music festival held at the Beautiful Eagle Creek. The first GATA Jam was held on Apr. 20, 2024, with Cole Swindell headlining the event. This year’s will be held on Saturday, March 8, with headliner Riley Green performing alongside multiple other country artists. The main sponsor for this year’s festival is Arena Graffiti Co., an activewear apparel company based in Augusta, Georgia.
While mildly known about by students who were interviewed, those who attended the GATA Jam last year seemed to have enjoyed themselves, with Madison Jackson, a nursing student at Georgia Southern, saying, “It was good. I’m not the biggest Cole Swindell fan, but the whole GATA Jam experience was fun.” When asked about this year’s GATA Jam, she said, “I think it’s going to be bigger and better, because Riley Green is definitely a bigger artist”
Overall, students who were interviewed recommended that students attending should:
- Drink water. This is so that you do not overheat in the sun and so that you have as much fun as possible.
- Get a good night’s rest beforehand. This is again to maximize your energy so that you can have fun at the event
- Bring friends. It’s much more fun at a music festival to bring friends. All students interviewed who went to the event said the best part of the experience was to bring friends.
GATA Jam 2025 is shaping up to be a great success, with Riley Green hoping to bring in a large crowd. Whatever the case, this festival should go down as a fun and safe event for all. Tickets can be bought here, and if you have further questions about the event, the FAQ page is here.
