Get your allergy pills ready…
After four long winter months, spring is just around the corner.
1 in every 4 college students is affected by Seasonal Depression, and as the days get longer and brighter, it’s the perfect time for a reset.
Spring is a time for new beginnings, a clean space, healthy routines, and longing for a lost hobby. You’ll feel the change every step you take.
A fresh start with a fresh space.
Decluttering your shelves, vacuuming your carpets, cleaning your windows, and storing away your overused puffer jackets are all part of the new season shift.
Deep cleaning is essential for a fresh start since it helps release endorphins that promote relaxation allowing you to feel rested and refreshed. While getting started may feel like a chore, the mental health boost will be worth it in the end.
Start small.
Old habits
As I sit by my stack of unopened books and look at my overfilled laundry basket, I realize I can think of at least 5 habits I want to leave behind this spring.
Starting now. Here are some things to keep in mind:
-
Pick up lost hobbies.
Reading that one book, learning a new crochet pattern, painting, journaling, running, going to the gym, and anything else that can fill in your free time. Do activities you enjoy! It’s never too late to start a new hobby.
-
Procrastination is evil!
As my college algebra teacher always says, procrastination is evil and won’t get you where you want to be. Starting a little action today takes a little less stress from tomorrow away.
-
Fix Sleep schedule.
Bed rotting won’t make your sleep any better. Limit your screen time, take a warm shower, engage with your senses, and create a night routine that works for you.
-
Find Balance.
With extracurriculars and classes tumbling together into a crazy whirlwind of activities, finding a balance will help you stay grounded and prevent burnout. Keep yourself sane!
-
No complaining.
The more you complain, the less is going to change. Optimistic thinking, Everything happens for a reason, the best thing you can do is let it happen.
Before dusting dust off your spring wardrobe, think about the things you’ve learned from the past four months. Think about what you can do to improve your lifestyle and start over fresh in these next warm sunny months.
Are you ready to welcome change?
