Georgia Southern’s Arabic Club hosted their weekly coffee hour. The club aims to promote Arab culture and raise awareness about its history, traditions, and customs.
This month, the club has been preparing for the month of Ramadan by preparing dishes from different countries.
“Ramadan is a very holy month in Islam so Muslims celebrate fasting from dawn until sunset for a month. Or for the month of Ramadan,” said president Jenna Afifi. “It is a month in the Lunar calendar. It’s really about a physical and spiritual cleanse.”
Members from the club have cooked a variety of meals each week. Several meals included Middle Eastern dishes.
Arab club meets weekly on Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. and is welcome to all students who are interested in learning about the culture and customs.
