How Early Is Too Early to Celebrate Christmas?

How+Early+Is+Too+Early+to+Celebrate+Christmas%3F

‘Tis the season to be jolly!… Not… Or at least, not yet. As we find ourselves in the last 3 months of the year, the yearly heated debate makes its appearance yet again. When is too early to start celebrating Christmas?

To stores such as Hobby Lobby, Home Goods, and Home Depot, who begin putting up decorations at the end of September, it’s safe to assume they’d argue that it’s never too early to start the festivities. However, the people of Georgia Southern say otherwise. This week I went around doing yet another poll, both online and in person, of peoples’ thoughts on when it’s too early to celebrate.

After gathering an even 30 opinions, here are the results:

  • Christmas shouldn’t be celebrated before Halloween got seven votes
  • Before Thanksgiving got eleven votes
  • Before December got nine votes
  • And “it’s never too early” got three votes

While I didn’t include my vote, I’d have to side with the before December people.

“We’ve got two other holidays to celebrate before Christmas, let them have their moment too!” an online-anonymous poll taker said.

The last months of the year are jam packed with excitement, there’s a holiday pretty much every other week, but not everyone has the same favorite holiday, so let those of us who love Halloween, Thanksgiving, or any other holiday/event in between, bask in the glory of them while we have the chance!
