Last week the Dean of Students hosted Bingo For Your Budget, an event that provides students with information about the Captain’s Cupboard Food Pantry on campus.
Both bingo and trivia were played at the event. Bags of food, an office chair, a microwave, a Stanley cup, multiple pans and pots, silverware and t-shirts were given to winners.
Students were also entered into a raffle for a $25 gift card for the university bookstore upon completing two surveys relating to food insecurity.
The prizes were donated by community members and organizations from Savannah and Statesboro. The event itself was funded by The Eagle Experience, according to Cherie Guame, the assistant administrator of the Dean of Students and coordinator of Armstrong’s food pantry.
The event was first held in 2022 in order to raise awareness about food insecurity and has taken place every semester since its inception, said Guame.
If you are struggling with food insecurity, please visit the campus food pantry. Hygiene and menstrual products are available, as well.
