Georgia Southern student, Kaidence Valencia, transformed her hobby into “MadeByKaidence” – her own handmade jewelry business.
Valencia, originally from Atlanta, is a World Languages major with a double minor in Computer Science and Entrepreneurship. Her jewelry business includes bracelets, necklaces, rings, and waist beads.
“I started making bracelets for fun when I was seven and now I make all kinds of jewelry and accessories,” Valencia said. “I stay motivated by remembering the fun I had in the beginning. Whenever I get stressed about the business side of things, I like to create things that bring me joy.”
Her handmade jewelry is creative and unique, harvesting Valencia’s individual craftsmanship. Each piece is one of a kind and comes from her personal experiences. Valencia enjoys fashion, painting, and makeup as well as jewelry making and explained her love for jewelry making.
“I like having jewelry as a creative outlet to help balance all the things I have to learn for my classes,” she said.
Valencia says she is inspired by nature especially while working with crystals. This influences most of her works, as seen on Instagram, but she is trying new things every day. “In terms of design, my ideas have only gotten crazier. I want to make more pieces that have never been seen before,” she said.
MadeByKaidence jewelry has been sold in many small shops and owner Kaidence Valencia can be found tabling and attending pop-up events from Statesboro to Atlanta.
Valencia is working on a website currently and has over 230 followers on instagram, she plans to do more in-person sales but will continue to promote her business online.
