The Georgia Southern Department of English allows students, regardless of major, to submit a piece of writing crafted for any English course – to be deemed award-worthy. The submission period ends March 14 at 5:00 p.m., the Friday before spring break.
Creative Writing Professor, Christina Olson, explained that students can submit in the four main categories – Literature, professional, technical writing, creative writing, and multi-modal. “You do not need to be an English major, but your submission needs to have been written for an English class [Literature and Film studies included],” said Olson.
Everyone who submits will be recognized at the end-of-the-year ceremony that will take place on Apr. 24 and Apr. 25. “Winners will receive a certificate, be acknowledged, and will be given a book [with their submission within, along with the other winners],” Olson explained.
There are no criteria that writers need to follow, “There is basically no limitation,” Olson said.
This is a great way to be honored for your achievements in the English department. So what are you waiting for? Submit to the Department of English Awards now!
