SAVANNAH—Disco lights, dancing, and dazzling dresses defined last night’s formal.
On Wednesday evening, the Office of Student Activities hosted a winter formal. Students were treated to a night of energetic dancing, plenty of free food and a plethora of fun.
“I love how everyone’s coming together and dancing. Especially everybody’s personality, everybody is diverse but yet accepting,” said Trizariah Freeman.
Freeman was one of many students who couldn’t part from the dance floor. The DJ played a variety of tunes, ranging from line dances like the “Cha Cha Slide” and “Can’t Get Enough”, recent hits like Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” to 2000’s throwbacks including “Gasolina” by DaddyYankee and “Baby” by Justin Bieber.
Students also had the opportunity to take photos at a 360 photo booth and show off their moves for the spinning camera.
“I haven’t been to any of these [types] of events on campus before, but I would love to see more,” said Ja’Maya Bedgood. Many other students expressed their desire to see more formal events from OSA.
The event encouraged students to step out in their finest formal wear.
Some students made use of their prom dresses while others took advantage of thrifting.
“The whole fit is from JCPenney, which I guess goes to show that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to show out,” said Hunter Welch.
