Eagles pick up another South Carolina commit
June 23, 2019
Anthony Dinkins-McCall, from Sumter High School in South Carolina, committed to Georgia Southern via Twitter on Sunday.
“First, I want to thank God for blessing me with the talent I have,” he said. “I also want to thank my parents and grandparents for making me a great young man on and off the field.”
The Sumter native was chosen for All-State and All-Region at the end of his junior season in addition to All-Area Receiver and Special Teams Player of the Year.
“I have a big family and family is everything to me. All the coaches made me feel at home when I came for my tour,” he said of his decision. “Georgia Southern has the most honest coaches ever and I respect that.”
Growing up in a house with four boys, Dinkins-McCall is no stranger to competition and hard work. In addition to football, he puts his best foot forward in track.
This season, he recorded a personal best of 10.98 in the 100 meter dash at the Region 4-5A Meet, while finishing second in long jump with a 22’2 PR at the Sumter/Irmo Meet. At the State Championships, he was a part of the runner up 4×100 relay team.
He will finish his senior year in high school before finding his new home on the 2020 GS roster as a slot receiver.
