A night of fun may be too much for Weinberl and Christopher, two store clerks, as they head out for adventure, shenanigans and hilarious mishap in the production of “On the Razzle.”

“On the Razzle” will play in the Performing Arts Center from Thursday until Saturday, April 13 from 7:30 – 9 p.m.

“The difference in this show and this season with those in the past is that there has been an ensemble cast. It’s not about one person specifically. It shows theatre as a collaborative art. That’s my favorite part,” Brandon Muggy, senior theatre major and assistant director, said.

The show not only features a large cast, but it also has five transitioning stage pieces and classic costumes to transport the audience from Statesboro to the play’s setting of Austria.

“The show is really good to see and is a comedy for adults and children. It’s a farce so it has subtle and outrageous humor that exceed the boundaries of reality,” Patrick Galletta, senior theatre major and Herr Zangler in the show, said.

Among the mistaken identity, romance and physical comedy of “On the Razzle” one actress Amanda Starling even switches genders in her role as Christopher.

“I was open to switching gender roles until I realized that I would have to cut my hair. I still love the show though and think it is going to be hilarious. The hardest part of learning how to play the opposite gender has been learning male gesturing,” Starling, sophomore psychology major, said.

“On the Razzle” which first opened in 1981 is an adaption of a Viennese play that led to the making of the musical “Hello, Dolly!”

Alex Bowser, a freshman accounting major who plays Weinberl said,” The show is incredible! It’s going to be great and everyone should see it. If it doesn’t make you laugh something is wrong with you.”

Tickets are $5 for students, $10 for faculty and staff and $15 for general admission.
