Georgia Southern University swimming and diving finishes out the fall portion of their season with a second place finish at the Wingate Frenzy hosted by Wingate University in North Carolina.

The top three finishing teams were; Gardner-Webb University with 821 points, GSU with 802, and the College of Charleston with 782.5.

“Overall, we were very happy with our performances and how we competed as a team. It is disappointing to come so close and not pull out a win, but we are happy with the results. We will take that now, because we know we will be a whole lot better come February, when it really counts,” said head coach Nathan Kellogg.

After holding the lead spot for two days of the competition, the Eagles dropped into second place to end the three-day tournament. GSU swam against eight teams during the tournament.

Junior Kristen Bates excelled, coming in second in the 200 Breast on Sunday with a time of 2:21.63, and finished first in the 100 Breast on Saturday.

Freshmen Christina Moran (200 Back, 2:05.75) and freshmen Kylee Parsons (1650 Free, 17:34.10) closed out a strong fall campaign with two more top five finishes, both finishing fourth in their respective events. Elaina Lanson also came in fourth in the 100 Free (51.74).

The Eagles will now have over one month off before they start the spring portion of their schedule.
