Kennedy named to Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll for the second week in a row
October 28, 2019
Junior running back Wesley Kennedy III has been named to the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll for the second straight week in a row, announced Monday.
Kennedy has only been back on the gridiron for three games since serving his academic suspension, but has come out explosive as he’s averaging 104 rushing yards per game. The Savannah native had his most impressive performance against New Mexico State on GS’s homecoming where he racked up 220 all-purpose yards, had a 71-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, a 47-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, and returned a punt for 67 yards for another touchdown in the third quarter- totalling out to six touchdowns on the season for the running back.
Kennedy is one of four offensive skill players named to the award honor roll along with Cam Akers of Florida State, Lynn Bowden Jr. of Kentucky and Stephon Robinson Jr. or Kansas.
The Paul Hornung Award presented by Texas Roadhouse is given annually to the most versatile player in major college football by the Louisville Sports Commission and Paul Hornung himself. The winner and his family will be honored at the annual Paul Hornung Award dinner at the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville on March 4, 2020.
