Two shootings reported on Lanier Drive over weekend

STATESBORO — Shootings were reported this weekend at two different apartment complexes on Lanier Drive.

The first shooting was reported Saturday night at 9:30 p.m. at Cambridge at Southern. Statesboro Police Department arrived on the scene to find two males shot, according to WTOC.

The shooting was caused by an attempted home invasion, involving two groups of people, according to WTOC.

The injured appeared to be a Cambridge tenant and one of the forced entry suspects. Memorial University Hospital in Savannah treated both of the men’s injuries, according to WSAV. 

The second shooting was reported to SPD at 1:47 a.m. at Stadium Walk Apartments on Sunday.

One male was shot and transported to East Georgia Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, according to WSAV.

One individual was arrested in connection to this shooting and the SPD expects there to be more arrests made, according to WSAV.

The university did not send out an Eagle Alert for either of these incidents.
