STATESBORO — The Georgia Southern Armstrong Campus will be evacuated on Monday in accordance with Governor Brian Kemp’s mandatory evacuation order. 

In a statement from the University Alert Center, GS officials announced that all students on the Armstrong campus need to leave residence halls by 9 p.m. Monday night, however, a bus will be provided for students who cannot find alternate transportation. 

“Students who cannot find any other alternate accommodations or who do not have an evacuation plan will be bused to the Statesboro campus and provided safe, temporary lodging,” the statement reads. “The bus will leave campus at 8:00 am, Tuesday Sept. 3.  As a reminder students cannot stay on campus.” 

The residence halls at Armstrong will be checked starting at 6 a.m. tomorrow to make sure all students have left.

Speaker of the Armstrong/Liberty Campus Student Government Senate, Tyler Tyack, urged students to heed the warning over Twitter.

“If you are in Savannah, please heed the evacuation warnings,” Tyack said. “We don’t know how bad this could be. Stay safe.”
