The Georgia Southern Men’s Tennis team has a full week of matches ahead of them and with two of them being home tournaments this weekend, they are looking to bring home a few more wins.

The first match that the Eagles have to play is against the Mercer University Bears in Macon, Georgia on Wednesday.

Since the Eagles are coming off of a win against the Troy Trojans on Sunday, they have momentum to carry into matches this week and hopefully that will translate into more wins to add to the 13-8 overall season record.

The Bears currently sit at a 9-10 overall record ,so GS has an advantage going into Tuesday’s match-up.

Junior Santiago Suarez is an Eagle to watch in this week’s tournaments. In the match up against Troy, he sealed the win for the Eagles.

Suarez defeated his opponent, sophomore Antonio Selma of Troy, finishing at 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 in a very close match.

The Eagles will then be back on their home turf this weekend at the Wallis Tennis Center to compete against the Appalachian State Mountaineers on Saturday and then against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on Sunday.

ASU is not performing as well as GS this season and their current record for the season sits at 5-15 while GS’ next opponent, CCU sits at 12-7.

CCU will probably be GS’ toughest competition in the coming week, but with the momentum that GS has, it will be hard to stop the Eagles.

Tuesday’s competition will kick-off at 2:30 p.m. from Macon, Georgia against the Bears. Then Friday the Eagles will take on the Mountaineers starting at 1 p.m., followed by the competition on Saturday against CCU starting at 11 a.m.
