The Statesboro Police Department is collaborating with Cool Beanz Espresso Bar to create a new purchasable coffee with profits going to the Statesboro Police Officer’s Foundation.

According to the Statesboro Police Department’s Instagram post, Cool Beanz Espresso Bar owner David Hoyle will be donating 100 percent of the profits from every new coffee bag sold. The new coffee blend will be a medium or medium dark roast.

“I think it’s a great idea,” said Madison Bridges Warren, community information specialist for the SPD. “It’s a great way to cooperate with a local business to raise money for our Police Officer’s Foundation, and all that money will go back to our police officers and benefiting them so I think it’s a great idea.”

The SPOF has helped out the SPD on multiple occasions before the coffee campaign launch, Warren said. An example of this would be when the SPOF and the city council jointly decided to provide external vests for the police officers in 2017, which are very costly.

There is currently a naming contest being hosted on the Instagram post for the new coffee. According to the post, those who want to be in the running must comment their name suggestions, and names must be family friendly and related to both coffee and the SPD.
