Parker College of Business student Edward Legaspi received the Academic Recognition Day Award for his exceptional academic prowess.

The award, distributed by the University System of Georgia Board of Regents, is given annually to only thirty-one students, one from each institution in the USG. To be qualified for the award, a student must be an undergrad and Georgia resident with a GPA at or very close to 4.0.

Legaspi is a double major in accounting and information systems, two fields he greatly enjoys studying, and feels honored to have received such an award for his work.

“Being recognized by not only my college but by the president and the whole university is an honor I never expected when I enrolled here four years ago,” Legaspi said via email. “I am just glad all the hard work I put in these past four years paid off.”

Legaspi’s award will be recognized by the Georgia General Assembly, and he has received both a lunch and a picture with Georgia Southern’s president Shelley Nickel.
