Georgia Southern provides free vaccines to those who are eligible

In a communications and marketing email that went out to GS students, faculty and staff there was an announcement made on COVID-19 vaccines regarding Georgia Southern specifically.
Georgia Southern University will be administering a limited number of doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine on March 16 on the Armstrong Campus in Savannah and on March 24 on the Statesboro campus, free of charge and via drive through appointment.
So who’s eligible? Well, populations within GS faculty, staff and students who GDPH lists as currently eligible for the COVID vaccine in Georgia.
This list includes

Healthcare workers (physicians, nurses, laboratory technicians, EMS personnel, environmental services, etc.)

Residents and staff of long-term care facilities
-
Adults aged 65 and older and their caregivers
-
Adults aged 55 and older
-
Law enforcement, firefighters, first responders

Educators and staff (Pre-K, K-12, DECAL licensed or exempt child care programs)

The email also specifically says, “If you meet any of the criteria listed above AND you live or work in Georgia, you are eligible for a COVID-19 vaccination in Georgia and invited to make an appointment for an on-campus vaccine distribution. Please go immediately to the MyGS portal and click on “COVID-19 Vaccine Scheduling Form” under the heading of “COVID-19 Information and Resources.””
