GS President urges masking inside campus buildings
Georgia Southern began classes in full swing on Wednesday, and while COVID-19 precautions like masks are not required inside campus buildings, they are strongly encouraged.
“Though not mandated, I encourage everyone to wear a mask or face covering while inside campus facilities,” President Kyle Marrero said in a letter sent out Wednesday morning, “And most importantly I strongly urge you to get vaccinated.”
Georgia Southern offers opportunities to receive the vaccine on campus, including a mass vaccination opportunity at Armstrong, Thursday, August 12. Additional appointments will be available on the Statesboro and Armstrong campuses weekly during the semester.
Students are still asked to continue engaging with the CARES Center, which provides real time support, reporting, and contact notifications to help mitigate the spread and exposure of the virus on campus.

Why is the University System of Georgia falling behind the University of Alabama in a common sense approach to the resurgence in COVID? Our ICUs are filling up, positive cases, and deaths are rising at alarming rates. In the past, Georgians could always say, “At least we are ahead of Alabama.” That is no longer a bragging point.

Well, nobody seems to be taking his “encourages” seriously because most people are not wearing masks. Not even the professors.
