So Statesboro can sell liquor, now what?

Vanessa Countryman, Digital Managing Editor

Statesboro voted yes to liquor in early November, but the stipulations have still not been decided.

Here’s what we do know:

It was agreed by Statesboro’s mayor and council, December 21, that there will be only local zoning and there will be distance requirements in order to keep limits on numbers and locations, according to the Statesboro Herald.

Statesboro will have to go through the legislative process for the local liquor law, according to Cain Smith, City attorney. Smith could not give a timeframe for when Statesboro might see its first liquor store, however.

The City Council will be meeting at City Hall for a work session this Tuesday to iron out some of the details.
