Soccer hits the road looking to rebound from close losses

After suffering from gut-wrenching losses this week, both the men’s and women’s soccer teams travel to get back in the win column.
Men’s Soccer
The men’s soccer team will be travelling to Macon, Georgia to face Mercer University.
The Eagles currently hold a record of 3-3-1 and are looking to break their one-loss streak after falling 1-2 to ETSU last Saturday, Sept. 22.
On the other hand, the Bears have a record of 5-2-2 and are looking to extend their win streak of one after beating Presbyterian College 3-2.
GS has notched 13 goals and have logged 100 shots, while Mercer has tallied 18 goals and 129 shots—giving them a 14.3 shots per game average.
Senior forward Javier Cabonell is an obvious to watch for the Eagles, as he’s had nine goals in the seven games he’s played as is leading the Eagles with 28 shots.
The game will start at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Mercer and will be streamed on ESPN+.
Women’s Soccer
The Eagles now show a record of 3-6 after coming off a hard-fought 1-2 loss to Appalachian State.
GS will next be facing ULM this Friday and will be traveling to Monroe, Louisiana to take on the War Hawks
ULM shows a record of 0-10 and hold a conference record of 0-3. The War Hawks have put up a total of four goals all season accompanied by 70 shots.
The Eagles on the other hand have tallied five goals and have logged 86 shots- giving them an average of 9.6 shots per game.
Defensively the Eagles can look to senior goalkeeper Jocelyn Springer as she’s notched 36 saves and has a saving percentage of .766 along with two shutouts.
The game will begin at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28 at ULM.
