Peterson ended his GS career with 6,559 rushing yards and 84 rushing touchdowns, both of which are school records. He also won the Walter Payton Award in 1999.

The Chicago Bears drafted Peterson in 2002. With the Bears, he rushed for 1,232 yards and eight touchdowns before leaving the team in 2010.
